Donovan Smith Wins Super Bowl LVIII With Kansas City Chiefs

Former Penn State offensive tackle Donovan Smith has once again won The Big Game.

Smith helped the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime to win their second consecutive Super Bowl Championship and third in the last five seasons.

This is the second Super Bowl victory in Smith’s career, and his first was clinched in 2020 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith was a member of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV team that defeated his current team, Kansas City.

Smith and the Kansas City offensive line helped the Chiefs rush for 130 yards and throw for 333 yards.

Smith becomes the 12th Nittany Lion to win multiple Super Bowls and the first since Stefen Wisniewski, who won Super Bowls LII and LVI. While he is a free agent this offseason, a return to Kansas City is likely in the cards for Smith, who would be a part of the attempt to become the first franchise to win three Super Bowls in a row.

Although Smith and the Chiefs clinched the ring, all eyes were on 49ers rookie safety Ji’Ayir Brown.

In his first Super Bowl appearance at the conclusion of his rookie season, Brown recorded 11 tackles, one interception, and one pass defended.

Brown concluded the 2023 season with 35 total tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defended.

Former Penn State defensive tackle Kevin Givens also appeared in the Super Bowl and registered two tackles for the 49ers.
