Your Official State Patty’s Weekend Drinking Game

Oh, State Patty’s. The weekend we’ve all been eagerly waiting for.

Per Penn State tradition, the weekend between THON and spring break is a self-proclaimed holiday in Happy Valley and is filled with drinking all weekend long.

To get the drinks flowing and the party going, we came up with yet another drinking game for you to reference throughout the weekend. Without further ado, let’s drink get into it.

  • Start the day off strong by taking a shot.
  • Find any green beverage in sight and chug it. It’s State Patty’s, folks. Keep up.
  • If you’re borderline blacked out before the sun sets, take a sip of water, maybe a nap, then rally.
  • Take a sip every time you see green. Drink up, you leprechaun.
  • For every long bar line you wait in, chug your drink for three seconds.
  • Take a sip every time you go mobile and head to a new function.
  • Take a swig every time someone mispronounces “leprechaun.” Bonus points if they try to imitate an Irish accent and fail miserably.
  • Every time you hear an Irish jig, get groovy and knock back a shot.
  • Drink when you spot someone wearing more than three shades of green. We’re talking full-on leprechaun camouflage here.
  • Take a sip for every person wearing a “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” shirt. Give ’em a smooch, too.
  • Sip whenever someone mentions finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Spoiler alert: they’re probably just hammered, and it’s a puddle.
  • Take a gulp whenever someone insists on adding ‘Mc’ or ‘O’ to their name for the day. Hopefully, James McFranklin will make an appearance at a bar or two this weekend.
  • Drink every time you see an Irish-themed borg.
  • If you find a four-leaf clover, swing back four shots. Man, you’re one lucky fella.
  • For every cop you see, discretely take a sip. Stay safe out there, folks.

Stay safe and drink responsibly this weekend, Penn Staters!
