Penn State Women’s Hockey’s Jeff Kampersal Named CHA Coach Of The Year

Penn State women’s hockey reeled in three individual conference awards, including head coach Jeff Kampersal’s distinction as CHA Coach of the Year and sophomore Tessa Janecke honored as the CHA’s Player of the Year and Forward of the Year.

The accolade is Kampersal’s third CHA Coach of the Year Award in four seasons, and he was given the recognition in the 2020-21, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons.

Since his hiring in 2017, Kampersal tallied a 118-78-40 record and three CHA regular-season titles.

Janecke, meanwhile, led the CHA in scoring with 16 goals and 36 assists this season. She was named to the First-Team All-CHA group and the CHA Forward of the Week four times.

Additionally, the forward led the nation in regular-season face-off wins with 558.

Kampersal, Janecke, and the Nittany Lions are gearing up for the CHA Tournament Championship set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Pegula Ice Arena. The matchup between Penn State and Mercyhurst can be streamed on BTN+.

From there, the blue and white will await likely slating in the NCAA Tournament, which is set to begin on Thursday, March 14.
