Report: Former Penn State Defensive Back Nick Scott Released By Cincinnati Bengals

Former Penn State defensive back Nick Scott has been released from the Cincinnati Bengals, per ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The move comes just after Scott signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the Bengals last offseason. During his sole season in Cincinnati, Scott recorded 57 tackles and one tackle for loss in 17 games.

Before moving to Cincinnati, Scott spent the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams after being drafted by them in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. During his four years in LA, Scott helped the Rams win their second Super Bowl, defeating his now-former team in Super Bowl LVI.

During that playoff run, Scott was slotted into a starting role after the Rams’ normal starting safety, Jordan Fuller, went down late in the season with an injury. His play helped him earn a starting spot the following season and a second contract.

Scott will now be an unrestricted free agent for the second consecutive offseason, with hopes of finding a starting role for another team.
