Power Ranking Penn State Baseball Players’ Walkup Songs

Going to watch a baseball game is one of the greatest activities you can do. What’s not to love about it? The home runs, the awesome defensive plays, the ballpark food, and the possibility of snatching a foul ball are paramount to the baseball experience.

One of the best parts of going to a game, though, is hearing the music right before a player walks up for an at-bat. Fans get a chance to sing along or just enjoy whatever song the player has chosen for the fans to listen to that encapsulates their play or personality.

Walkup songs are a very important part of baseball games, as seen below during Bryson Stott’s at-bat during a Philadelphia Phillies playoff game from last season.

Because Penn State baseball released its players’ walkup songs for the 2024 season, we decided to rank all 38 songs from worst to best. Here’s a look at the list.

38. Tayven Kelley: Colombian Necktie – Young Nudy

Before listening to all of these songs for this post, I looked down the list and recognized a lot of the songs. This song I didn’t know, and I’m glad I didn’t because I wasn’t a fan.

37. Jacob Coffin: Already – Kodak Black

Another song I hadn’t heard before, and once again, glad I don’t have to hear it again.

36. Ty Torti: Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 – A$AP Rocky

I’m not the biggest A$AP Rocky fan, so I knew this song would be low. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t great.

35. Mason Butash: War – Drake

“War” is the lone Drake song on this list, and it isn’t one of his better ones. It, unfortunately, must be ranked toward the bottom.

34. Mason Horwat: Uncle M – Young Thug

I’m also not a fan of Young Thug, so I had to put this one lower.

33. CJ Carmichael: Many Men – 21 Savage

Now, if this was “Many Men” by 50 Cent, it’s a clear top-three candidate, but it’s not, unfortunately.

32. Kevin Michaels: Delilah – Fred Again

DJ music is either really good or really bad for walking up to the plate, and this one just isn’t that great.

31. Alex Pak: Runnin -21 Savage

“Runnin” is the second 21 Savage song on the list, and it’s better than “Many Men.” Not by much, though.

30. Frankie Sanchez: South To West – Gunna

I’m not a Gunna fan, but I didn’t mind this song. It’s alright but nothing crazy.

29. David Lee: My Eyes – Travis Scott

If you choose a song by Travis Scott, it has to be good, and this one is, but David Lee is the team’s “closer” for this season. Closers’ walkup songs have to be electric, and sadly, this one just isn’t.

28. Kyle Hannon: Met Gala – Gunna

“Met Gala” is a slightly better song by Gunna than the previous one on this list.

27. Michael DiMartini: Silly Watch – Lil Uzi Vert

Lil Uzi Vert is picked multiple times throughout this list, but this is aptly the worst choice of the group.

26. Jack Messina: Communication Breakdown – Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin is a great option to walk up to the plate for, but this song isn’t one of its strongest.

25. Zach Mizrahi: Hava Nagila (Club Mix) – Alex M

EDM-type songs are normally very good, but this one just doesn’t hit for some reason.

24. Ben DeMell: Venetia – Lil Uzi Vert

“Venetia” is a personal favorite of mine, but for a walkup song, there are plenty that are better.

23. Joe Jaconski: Drug Addiction – NBA YoungBoy

The guitar in this song is great, but the beat is just alright.

22. Carson Kohls: Blow The Whistle – Too Short

This is a great beat to dance to between hitters.

21. Will Perkowski: She Had Me At Heads Carolina – Cole Swindell

Country music walkup songs are some of the most underrated songs for a player. Typically, most of the music sounds great, and “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” fits the bill.

20. Matt Maloney: Powerglide- Rae Sremmurd

“Powerglide” was such a banger for me personally in high school, and it continues to be great.

19. Martin Howell: Your Heart Or Mine – Jon Pardi

This is a slight upgrade from “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” but still a middle-of-the-pack song.

18. Aiden Coleman: Insane In The Brain – Cypress Hill

Everyone screams “Insane in the membrane. Insane in the brain.”

17. Billy Gerlott: Down In Atlanta – Travis Scott

The beats on this song are fantastic, unfortunately, it just has a lot of heavy hitters in front of it. Still great though.

16. Bobby Marsh: Everybody – Backstreet Boys

Throwback songs, especially ones from the 90s, are always great options for walkup songs, and this one doesn’t miss. Everyone gets to sing along, too.

15. Adin Zorn: Carousel – Travis Scott

Travis Scott is featured for the third time on this list, and this is by far the best song out of the three.

14. Bryce Molinaro: Paparazzi – Lady Gaga

I respect the Lady Gaga choice, but unfortunately, this list is just too jammed pack with good picks that this is the highest it can go.

13. C.J. Pittaro: White Horse – Chris Stapleton

Country songs will always be a win, and Chris Stapleton and his guitar make all of his songs excellent choices.

12. Travis Luensmann: Without Me – Eminem

This was such a tough song to rank because it’s so great and one of Eminem’s best, but I feel like it doesn’t work as great as others as a walkup song.

11. Grant Norris: The Way I Talk – Morgan Wallen

I gave this song the edge just because Grant Norris kept this his walkup song from last year, and I love hearing it every time I’m at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

10. James Lordi: Still D.R.E – Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg

Any Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg song belongs in the top 10. I don’t write the rules. I just abide by them.

9. Anthony Steele: 4K – El Alfa

Spanish music is always make for fantastic walkup songs, and this banger checks every box. It makes everyone who hears it want to stand up and dance.

8. J.T. Marr: Different Round Here – Riley Green

What’s more American than eating a dollar dog, watching a baseball game, and listening to “Different Round Here?” Nothing. Nothing is.

7. Matt Morash: House Of The Rising Sun – The Animals

Every time I hear this song, I think of the movie “Casino,” and it makes me feel like a million bucks. I assume Matt Morash feels the same way whenever he takes the mound with this playing through the stadium.

6. Chic DeGaetano: Fat Bottomed Girls – Queen

Queen is always a big win, and the opening of this song is great. A clear top choice.

5. Jaden Henline: Low Rider – War

Shoutout George Lopez. Awesome pick.

4. Adam Cecere: The Way Life Goes – Lil Uzi Vert

This is just an overall chill song and one of Lil Uzi Vert’s best.

3. Brandon Wingenroth: 22 – Taylor Swift

Brandon Wingenroth wears the No. 22 jersey, and it’s Taylor Swift-coded. Do I need to say anything else? Fantastic combo.

2. Derek Cease: The Sweet Escape – Gwen Stefani

Everyone loves throwbacks, and this one hits. Whenever Derek Cease walks to the plate, everyone in the crowd does the “woo hoo, yee hoo” part. The song gets the crowd involved and is also a banger, making for a clear top choice.

1. Connor Throneberry: Country Girl (Shake It For Me) – Luke Bryan

As I’ve said, country music and baseball are a recipe for success. So what better country song than one of the best and catchiest of all time in “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” by Luke Bryan? Everyone knows this song, everyone sings along when it comes on, and it makes the vibes of Medlar Field at Lubrano Park fantastic. This is by far the best walkup song on the team.
