Report: Penn State Walk-On Running Back David Kency Jr. Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State football walk-on running back David Kency Jr. has entered the transfer portal, according to 247Sports’ Tyler Donohue. Kency followed running back London Montgomery, safety King Mack, and offensive lineman Golden Israel-Achumba as Nittany Lions who entered the portal Thursday.

The 5’7,” 173-pound Louisiana native joined the Nittany Lions as a walk-on in 2023 and redshirted that season. Kency was a zero-star athlete, according to On3, and became the seventh Nittany Lion to enter the portal.

During his senior season of high school football, Kency ran for 1,147 yards and 14 touchdowns on 130 carries, per his MaxPreps profile. With Montgomery’s exit, two Nittany Lion running backs have left Penn State for the portal this offseason.
