AAUW State College To Host Annual Used Book Sale May 11-14

The American Association for University Women (AAUW) State College is set to host its annual used book sale from Saturday, May 11, to Tuesday, May 14, at the Snider Ag Arena, located at 800 E. Park Ave.

For the 62nd consecutive year, community members have donated thousands of books over the past 10 months. All proceeds from the sale will go toward the support and funding of local grants and scholarships that assist local women and girls.

Offering an estimate of 200,000 books, the sale serves as one of the largest used book sales in the country, with the children’s section boasting over 25,000 books. Books are individually priced and sorted into 30 different categories. Covering a wide variety of genres, the sale will include books relating to art, fiction, history, hobbies, literature, mysteries, and sports, to name a few.

Cash, checks, major credit cards, and Apple Pay will all be accepted with no parking or admission fees required.

Founded in 1881, AAUW is a nationwide grassroots organization that works on local, state, and federal levels to support laws and policies that enable the success of women and girls. The annual book sale is one of many initiatives the organization organizes to raise funding and awareness for women’s education and rights.

The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday through Monday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. On Monday, May 13, all books will be marked half-off, and on the last day, Tuesday, May 14, attendees can fill their bag with as many books as possible for $10.
