Five Penn State Women’s Lacrosse Players Named To USA Lacrosse All-American Teams

Five Penn State women’s lacrosse players earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors, the organization announced Thursday morning. All five players were also recently named to All-Big Ten teams.

Kristin O’Neill was named to an All-American Team for the second year in a row, this season to the second team. O’Neill leads the Nittany Lions with 52 points this season on 45 goals and seven assists. She ranks No. 3 in America with an average of 1.28 free position goals per game.

Kayla Abernathy, Gretchen Gilmore, Sammy Dupcak, and Ellie Hollin were all named All-American honorable mentions. Abernathy gained her first All-American honor after being first on the team with 73 draw controls.

Gilmore became an honorable mention for the second consecutive season despite scoring a career-high 40 goals to go along with 10 assists this season. Dupcak, a senior defender, has scooped 19 ground balls and forced 17 turnovers this season. Hollin, also from the defense, has scooped 20 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers on the year.

No. 15 Penn State returns to face No. 19 James Madison at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 10, in College Park, Maryland, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
