Report: Penn State Receiving $99,875.16 For College Football 25 Appearance
So that’s how they’re paying for Beaver Stadium.
According to cllct, Penn State will receive $99,875.16 for its presence in EA Sports’ new CFB25 video game. The program will receive the highest possible amount of money based on a tier system of AP poll finishes from the past decade.
In this system, there were four tiers of payouts to the 134 universities featured in the game and teams received a point for finishing a season in the Top 25 of the AP Poll. The top tier, featuring Penn State, Alabam, Ohio State, Michigan, and others, paid colleges $99,875.16. Three other rates of $59,925.09, $39,950.06, and $9,987.52 were paid to less successful programs.
According to Cllct, teams with 6-10 points were slotted in Tier 2, 2-5 points in Tier 2, one point in Tier 3, and no points in the last tier. Penn State’s six points were good enough to place the Nittany Lions with the best of college football. Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State led all schools with ten points.
Penn State might receive more money in the future. Per Matt Liberman of Cllct, universities will receive additional payments based on the success of the game and will receive a 10% royalty on sales due to an agreement between universities and EA Sports for the next four iterations of the game.
As for the game, the first official trailer has already been released and Penn State was featured in the trailer. The highly anticipated game is available for pre-order now. The deluxe edition will be released on Tuesday, July 16, and the regular edition will be released on Friday, July 19, for XBOX Series X and PS5.
