Penn State Women’s Soccer Announces 2024 Captains

Penn State women’s soccer has named its captains for the 2024 season, it announced Tuesday. Olivia Damico, Rowan Lapi, Devon Olive, and Mieke Schiemann will lead the team through the fall.

“I am thrilled to announce that Liv, Rowan, Devon, and Mieke will serve as our team captains for the 2024 season,” head coach Erica Dambach said in a release. “Each of them brings a different perspective to the game, and all four of them have unique leadership styles that I believe make them excellent choices to lead our program on and off the field this season.”

Damico, a midfielder playing in her fifth season at Penn State, has made 47 appearances for the Nittany Lions. She’s started 10 times and recorded four goals and three assists.

Lapi will serve as a captain in her second and final season with Penn State. Lapi played in each of Penn State’s matches in 2023 and between her time at Penn State and Northwestern, has logged nine goals and five assists.

After taking a medical redshirt in 2023, Olive will play her sixth and final season of college soccer in 2024. Olive has made 72 appearances at Penn State with 13 starts, a goal, and two assists.

A native of Berlin, Germany, Schiemann will play in her fourth season for the Nittany Lions. The defender has made 63 appearances and 62 starts for Penn State and was one of just four Nittany Lions to start in all 23 matches in 2023.

Last year’s group of Nittany Lions went 16-3-4 with an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, ultimately losing to Clemson. Penn State is set to kick off its season on Thursday, August 15, against Texas Tech at Jeffery Field.
