Penn State Football Stars Drew Allar & Nick Singleton Named To Maxwell Award Watch List

Penn State football quarterback Drew Allar and running back Nick Singleton have been named to the Maxwell Award watch list. While not college football’s most prestigious individual recognition, the Maxwell Award is given annually to the best player in the sport.

Allar is entering his second season as Penn State’s starting quarterback and his third on the Nittany Lions’ roster. Last year, Allar threw for 2,631 yards and 25 touchdowns with two interceptions across 13 games. He completed 233 of 389 pass attempts and earned All-Big Ten honorable mentions from coaches and media.

Singleton is coming into his third year both as a starter and at Penn State. Thus far, Singleton has totaled 1,813 rushing yards with 20 rushing touchdowns across 20 starts. He’s one of 16 Nittany Lions ever to rush for at least 1,000 yards in a season, a feat he accomplished his freshman year.

Eighty players were named to the watch list, and Miami (Florida) and Ohio State each had three players represented. Penn State and 14 other schools had two players on the list. Other notable mentions were Donovan Edwards of Michigan, Will Howard, Quinshon Judkins, and Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State, Dillon Gabriel of Oregon, and more.
