Penn State Baseball Adds 27 Players To Roster

Turnover is probably the best way to describe Penn State baseball over the last two years.

One year after Rob Cooper resigned as head coach and Mike Gambino replaced him, Penn State dealt with plenty of players leaving the program, either after running out of eligibility or transferring away. Gambino has tweaked his roster accordingly, bringing in a whopping 27 newcomers to the team.

The additions are comprised of 15 transfers and 12 freshmen. Of the transfers, 13 have played Division I ball and eight are coming directly from a Division I program. Seven have played on a team that made an NCAA Regional appearance and another three were in the College World Series.

The Nittany Lions also added 13 pitchers and 14 position players.

Gambino’s first season with Penn State was historic, reaching the Big Ten Tournament and then making a cinderella run to the championship game. While Penn State lost to Nebraska in a battle for the Big Ten crown, the Nittany Lions’ 29 wins were their most ever under a first-year head coach.

Additionally, the Nittany Lions had their first winning season since 2016, their first season when they didn’t dip below .500 since 2011, and their best Big Ten record since 2016.

Here’s a glance at the Nittany Lions’ additions for 2025, provided by the folks over at Penn State Athletics. The full roster can be viewed here.
