Penn State Women’s Soccer Midfielder Katie Scott Named To Preseason Freshman Best XI

Penn State women’s soccer midfielder Katie Scott has been named to TopDrawerSoccer’s Freshman Best XI, the program announced Wednesday.

A native of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Scott has experience with United States youth national teams. She’s made appearances with the under-17 national team in the CONCACAF U17 Championships and has also represented for the U.S. with the U15 and U16 teams.

Scott was ranked as the No. 26 recruit in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer and was part of a strong Penn State recruiting group ranked No. 5 in the country. In high school, Scott was a three-time ECNL All-American and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American.

Scott and the Nittany Lions will kickoff their season at 7 p.m. on Thursday night as they face Texas Tech at home in a battle of two top-10 teams. Folks can catch the action at Jeffrey Field or, if they aren’t on campus yet, on the Big Ten Network.
