OS Cribs: Oliv Hetzel

Oliv Hetzel, located on the corner of East Beaver Avenue and Hetzel Street, is one of two new luxury, high-rise student apartments in downtown State College. Sitting on the east side, the new complex is filled with high-quality amenities for residents to enjoy.

Construction of the 12-story residential and commercial building began in the fall of 2021 and recently finished over the summer. Since its development, the new high rise has been the talk of the town since move-in weekend.

The new building houses a mix of one, two, four, and five bedroom apartments with 44 bedrooms and 13 units on a typical residential floor.

Onward State, luckily, has a staffer living at Oliv Hetzel who was gracious enough to give us a tour of his place. With the space now up and running, we ventured over to check out its luxury amenities so you don’t have to beg your rich friend to let you in.

A sight for sore eyes.

Upon entering the lobby, folks are greeted by the front desk and Oliv’s very own coffee shop, “New Here Coffee.”

The cafe offers iced and hot drinks, pastries, breakfast, advil, and much more.

The main floor also features a computer lab, study rooms, lounge areas, and meeting rooms.

The facility is complete with a gym with dozens of workout equipment from stairclimbers to bench presses to ellipticals and other machines. Inside the gym, residents have access to sauna and zen rooms where they can practice self-care and let off some steam.

Here’s a look inside a current resident’s setup. Not too shabby.

Once you take the elevator up the penthouse level, you’ll find the rooftop that overlooks all of downtown State College with glimpses of Old Main, Bryce Jordan Center, and Mount Nittany.

Oh hey, Beaver Stadium!

Up on the roof lies a pool, bonfire, ping pong, a plethora of seating, cabanas, plants, lounge chairs, TVs, and grills.

We don’t think anything can beat these rooftop views.
