Gameday Coverage: No. 8 Penn State vs. Bowling Green

Home at last.

Penn State football will open up a four-game homestand against Bowling Green at noon on Saturday. After last week’s 34-12 victory over West Virginia, expectations are growing for the upcoming season.

Here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s home opener.

Television

The Nittany Lions will play on the Big Ten Network at noon on Saturday. Chris Vosters will handle the play-by-play duties with Matt Millen as the analyst. Dannie Rogers will provide coverage from the sideline.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network— Steve Jones and Jack Hamm

Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM/1450AM, Sirius/XM/Internet: 83/83/80

Weather

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 68° and an 88% chance of precipitation, according to AccuWeather. There is a chance of thunderstorms throughout the day, and a lightning delay could once again be a possibility.

Last Meeting

Saturday will be the third time Bowling Green plays the Nittany Lions. Penn State last met the Falcons in 1998, beating Bowling Green 48-3 for Joe Paterno’s 300th career win. Prior to that, Penn State beat the Falcons 45-19 in 1987.

Injuries

After missing last week with an injury, tight end Khalil Dinkins was practicing in pads at this week’s media viewing session. While Franklin said he’s optimistic Dinkins will play on Saturday, he noted both mental and physical challenges to returning after missing so much time.

Wide receiver Kaden Saunders saw action as the punt returner last week, but Franklin said he didn’t see the field on offense because of the bumps and bruises he was recovering from.

Betting Lines

The Nittany Lions are 35-point favorites over the Bowling Green Falcons this weekend. The over/under was set at 49 points.
