Izzy Starck Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week
Penn State women’s volleyball freshman Izzy Starck was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday. Starck propelled the Nittany Lions to three wins last week, two of which came against top teams.
In their matchup against Louisville, Starck contributed to the Nittany Lions’ hit percentage of .358 with 32 assists. Penn State upset and swept the Cardinals 3-0 in Rec Hall.
As the Nittany Lions hit the road and achieved a 3-2 reverse sweep at No. 9 Kentucky, Starck accumulated 47 assists, 17 kills, five digs, five blocks, and an ace.
Rounding out the week, Starck finished with 11.09 assists per set, contributing to the team offense’s overall .321 hitting percentage.
Penn State enters its third week of regular season play with a 5-0 record. It’s set to face Duke, Princeton, and St. John’s at the Penn State Invitational this weekend at Rec Hall.
