Amin Vanover Accused Of Misdemeanor DUI

Update, 2:37 p.m.:

Penn State Athletics spokesperson Kris Peterson responded to Onward State’s request for comment.

“We are aware of the charges against Amin Vanover,” Peterson said. “These alleged actions do not reflect the values and standards of our program and will be addressed. We will not comment any further as this is an ongoing legal matter.”

Original Story:

Penn State football defensive end Amin Vanover was accused of two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance in August.

According to an affidavit, a State College police officer observed Vanover driving his Dodge Charger, which had expired tags. The officer pulled Vanover over at Waupulani Drive and O’Bryan Lane and noticed an odor of marijuana in the car.

Vanover, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, told the officer that his friends smoked in the car, according to the criminal complaint. Vanover’s pupils were bloodshot. After Vanover agreed to SFST and ARIDE tests and began walking to a sidewalk, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from Vanover’s “breath and person.”

Vanover was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for testing, according to the affidavit. Vanover consented to a blood test, which took place at 1 a.m. Tests from the samples came back positive for marijuana with analysis at a 95% certainty level.

In addition to the two misdemeanors, Vanover was accused of a summary offense registration issue with his car registration.

Penn State Athletics did not immediately respond to Onward State’s request for comment.
