Brainstorming Infrastructure That Penn State Should Steal From Other Colleges
Penn State is perfect…well, almost perfect.
We all love Penn State’s beautiful campus, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some potential improvements to be made. Colleges all over the country have some really interesting pieces of infrastructure that make their campuses unique.
We thought it would be fun to look at some of these schools and see which interesting pieces of infrastructure Penn State should copy. Here’s what we came up with:
UCF’s Lazy River
This project was announced a few years ago and never actually came to fruition, but for the sake of this article, I want to pretend that it did. I also don’t care how impractical a lazy river would be in central Pennsylvania for most of the year. This looks awesome, and we should have one.
West Virginia’s PRT
A little over a week ago, we here at Onward State traveled down to West Virginia to cover Penn State football’s season opener. While in Morgantown, we were enamored with West Virginia’s Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system. This small rail system is seemingly one-of-a-kind, taking students all over campus in style.
Northwestern’s Beach
This one is actually impossible to add, but if I had genie powers and could just create a lake in State College, I think it would be awesome to have a beautiful sandy beach right on campus. Imagine relaxing after a long day with beautiful views of Lake Nittany.
Trinity College’s Library
Who said I had to limit this to just American universities? Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, is world-famous for its impressive library. The gorgeous hall would make for a much more pleasant studying spot than the stacks.
Michigan Tech’s Ski Resort
Tussey Mountain is great, but Michigan Technological University has its very own ski resort on campus called Mont Ripley Ski Area. The best part about these slopes is that access is included in students’ tuition, so all MTU students don’t need to pay extra to hit the slopes.
Duke’s Chapel
Regardless of your personal views on religion, there’s no denying the impressive architecture of Gothic chapels and cathedrals. Lots of schools around the country, including secular schools, have impressive structures like this, which are a delight for architecture enthusiasts.
