[Photo Story] Josh Shapiro Brings Campaign To Berkey Creamery

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro visited Penn State’s Berkey Creamery to speak to a small crowd of attendees early Monday afternoon.

Shapiro spoke about the importance of students voting, his relationship with Vice President Kamala Harris and her presidential running mate Tim Walz, what’s on the line in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, and even stopped in for some ice cream.

Prior to Shapiro’s speech, State College Mayor Ezra Nanes and State Representative Paul Takac addressed local politics and brought up the energy of the folks on site.

Following short talks by Nanes and Takac that introduced the governor, Shapiro stepped up to a roar from the crowd.

Shapiro began his speech by saying, “We appreciate you. I’m happy to be back.”

He went on to talk about the issues being addressed in this year’s election and how important voting is, especially with Pennsylvania being “the swingiest of all swing states.”

After speaking for about eight minutes, Shapiro spent time with the listeners, chatting and taking selfies with each of them.

It then came time for Shapiro to go inside the Creamery for ice cream and have a conversation with the staff, which included him revealing one of his favorite flavors: Alumni Swirl.

Shapiro’s event concluded after a little less than an hour before he headed for his motorcade and departed.
