‘Tina–The Tina Turner Musical’ To Make Penn State Debut October 6

The hit Broadway musical “Tina–The Tina Turner Musical” will make its debut in Happy Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

The musical follows the story of world-renowned musician Tina Turner as she fought racism, sexism, and ageism, ultimately becoming the “Queen of Rock n’ Roll.”

Singer-songwriter Jayna Elise leads the cast, portraying Turner. Elise has been featured on stages with artists such as Tyler Perry and Queen Latifah, and was a finalist on the hit TV shows “America’s Got Talent” and “American Idol.”

The show was written by Tony Award nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, while the new tour is produced by Crossroads Live North America. The show opened at the Aldwych Theatre on London’s West End in 2018 with the show debuting on Broadway in November 2019, earning 12 nominations for the Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

“Tina–The Tina Turner Musical” is recommended for ages 14 and older, as the production includes loud music, strobe lighting, haze, gunshots, scenes depicting domestic violence, and strong language.

Tickets are $66-$84 for adults, $40-$45 for University Park students, and $49-$66 for those 18 and younger. Folks can visit Penn State Ticketmaster for purchase online.
