Your Guide To Penn State Homecoming 2024’s Events

Homecoming 2024 is quickly approaching, and this week is full of fun and free events to get everyone pumped up.

Demonstrate your school spirit and get ready to celebrate with other students and alumni leading up to Penn State’s Homecoming game against Illinois at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.

Monday, September 23

Allen Street Jam
When & Where: 3-7 p.m. — Allen Street

All State College community members are welcome to join this block party on Allen Street between Beaver Avenue and College Avenue. There will be lots of food, live music, and games to enjoy with performances by some of Penn State’s dance groups.

Tuesday, September 24

Past To Present
When & Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — HUB Heritage Hall

Learn a little bit about Penn State’s history through some of its clubs, and dance at a silent disco with your friends. Along with cotton candy, popcorn, and cake, there will be performances, interactive games, and a sign shop.

For The Glory Talent Show
When & Where: 7:30 p.m. — Schwab Auditorium

To highlight Penn State’s “For The Glory” motto, students will showcase their talents and compete for prizes. The grand prize winner will earn a spot on stage to perform during THON.

Wednesday, September 25

Best Of Penn State Carnival
When & Where: 1-5 p.m. — HUB Lawn

The campus carnival is returning with booths hosted by student organizations and fun inflatables. Caricature artists will be there to personalize portraits of you and your friends, and you could try to win a stuff-a-plush. There will be popcorn, cotton candy, and, of course, Creamery ice cream.

Opulence Drag Show
When & Where: 7 p.m. — HUB Alumni Hall

Join Penn State’s Premiere Drag Ambassador group Opulence for an exciting night of performances.

Thursday, September 26

Pride In Our Community Pep Rally
When & Where: 5-7 p.m. — HUB Stairs

Join students in dancing, stepping, and cheering for each other on the Monumental Staircase. Organized by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, this event aims to bring the community together.

Friday, September 27

Alumni Ice Cream Social
When & Where: 1-3 p.m. — Hintz Alumni Center

Help welcome Penn State alumni back to campus for the weekend while enjoying Creamery ice cream and Alumni Blue Band performances. All students, alumni, and other members of the Penn State community are welcome.

Homecoming Parade
When & Where: 6 p.m. — Campus & Downtown State College

This student-run parade celebrates the connections between members of the Penn State community. Student organizations, alumni, and community groups will be showing off floats at the student-run parade, themed “In Every Roar, Tradition Soars.” It is a great event for community members of all ages to enjoy.

Guard The Lion Shrine
When & Where: 7 p.m. — Lion Shrine

Head over to the Lion Shrine right after the parade to witness a cherished tradition. Originating from an incident of vandalism, this event has evolved into a celebration with live entertainment, guest speakers, including Sue Paterno, free food, games, and activities revolving around protecting Penn State’s beloved shrine.

Saturday, September 28

Homecoming Football Game
When & Where: 7:30 p.m. — Beaver Stadium

Featuring the black and pink S-Zone, the “Generations of Greatness” jerseys, and the presentation of Homecoming V.I.P.s, Penn State football will be playing Illinois in a top-20 matchup.

P.S. Wear that one color that everyone likes to wear on Saturdays.
