Drew Allar Named Finalist For Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was named a top-25 finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award on Wednesday night. The award aims to recognize the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class who showcases values of character and honor in addition to their on-field performance.

Through the 2024 season, Allar has thrown 1,101 yards and nine touchdowns with one interception and a 70.9% completion rate. Allar has also rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns, putting him on pace to comfortably surpass his 209-yard and four-touchdown totals from last year.

Allar was also named to the preseason watch lists for both the Davey O’Brien and Maxwell awards, highlighting the top quarterback and most outstanding player in the country, respectively.

Joining Allar on the list of 25 are the likes of Illinois’ Luke Altmeyer, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, Ohio State’s Will Howard, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, and more.

Allar and the Nittany Lions next take the field at 3:30 p.m. against USC on Saturday, October 12. The game will be televised on CBS.
