Champs Bringing ‘A Taste Of Home’ To Penn Staters At Los Angeles 901 Bar

Dirty Sprites on the West Coast? Who would’ve thought?

Champs, in collaboration with 901 Bar & Grill, will be providing Penn Staters traveling to Los Angeles for the Nittany Lions’ matchup against USC with a Happy Valley-esque pregame and postgame destination.

With USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten this season, Champs owner and Penn State Class of 2004 alum Dante Lucchesi saw this as the perfect opportunity to partner with another popular, college-town bar.

Lucchesi first met the 901 bar owner last summer, eventually forming a close bond, which led to the collab nobody saw coming but what everyone traveling over 2,000 miles needed.

Just last weekend, when UCLA played in Happy Valley, Champs invited the UCLA alum to come join in on the fun, as the owner of 901 sent merch for them to give out throughout the weekend.

“The vision for all of these collaborations is to enhance the experience for the people traveling for away games,” Lucchesi said. “A lot of people are going, and we wanted to give representation for Penn State out there… Being able to bring that hospitality; I think that’s a really great thing.”

In a similar fashion, for the USC game, Lucchesi, along with Champs management, sent Champs merch, koozies, cups, and of course, permission to sell the Dirty Sprites that every Penn Stater knows and loves.

“What we wanted was a place for everyone to congregate while they’re staying in LA this weekend,” Lucchesi shared. “We wanted a place for all Penn Staters to go and give them a taste of home.”

On top of this collab on the West Coast, folks traveling north to the Wisconsin game later in the month can expect a presence from Champs in some shape or form. Although it’s still in the works, these collaborations are exactly what Lucchesi and Champs management thrive for, as they not only spread brand awareness but also their Penn State pride.

901 Bar & Grill will be opening at approximately 9:01 a.m., where Champs will be taking over, providing a pregame and postgame destination to Penn State alumni and students. The bar is located at 2902 S. Figueroa St. in Los Angeles and closes at 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Dirty Sprites will be available for purchase at the bar all weekend long. All Penn Staters who are making an appearance for the big are welcome and encouraged to stop by the pop-up.
