Movin’ On Receives Anonymous $25,000 Scholarship Donation
Movin’ On, Penn State’s student-run music festival, received an anonymous $25,000 donation to set up a scholarship for leaders of the festival, the organization announced Wednesday.
The donation came after country star Luke Combs and his team met with Movin’ On organizers prior to his April 27 concert, giving students a different perspective on the music industry. Inspired by Combs’ interaction with Movin’ On leadership, one anonymous donor made their pledge.
“We are honored that a donor who learned about Movin’ On through these interactions has given us such inspiration and support for our commitment to building community through music and pursuing our own careers in the industry,” Executive Director Sofia Moussan said in a statement.
The $25,000 fund will be used to start the “Movin’ On Leadership Award,” which leaders of the organization hope will become an annual scholarship.
“This generous gift underscores the fusion of music and philanthropy, and it will also help to rally support for the student volunteers who make Movin’ On, a signature event at University Park, happen every year. Our volunteers give so much to the Penn State community, and I am glad that their spirit and determination are being recognized,” Movin’ On Staff Advisor Nick Pazdziorko said.
Following the donation, Movin’ On is organizing a campaign to reach a $50,000 total that would contribute to creating a permanent scholarship. Folks interested in donating to the cause can do so here.
