Penn State Women’s Soccer To Open Big Ten Tournament Against Minnesota

No. 10-seeded Penn State women’s soccer is set to play No. 7-seeded Minnesota at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. The Nittany Lions concluded their regular season today in a loss at Ohio State. The rest of the Big Ten played its matches throughout the day, finally creating the tournament bracket.

Penn State’s last win came against Minnesota in a 3-2 nail-biter on October 13 at Jeffrey Field. The Nittany Lions dropped two of their last three regular season games against USC and Ohio State, respectively. A tough draw against UCLA also contributed to the winless streak.

The University of Minnesota and CITYPARK in St. Louis are the hosts for this year’s tournament. Teams will technically play all matches on a neutral field. However, the Nittany Lions will begin their journey in Minneapolis against the Golden Gophers.

The winner of Penn State and Minnesota will play UCLA on November 3. The other first round matchup is Wisconsin vs. Ohio State, with the winner setting up a date with USC on November 3 as well. The predetermined duels in the second round include Michigan State vs. Rutgers and Iowa vs. Washington.

Folks can tune in to BTN+ for all first and second round coverage of the tournament before switching to the Big Ten Network for the semifinals and championship match.
