Izzy Starck Named Big Ten Women’s Volleyball Freshman Of The Week
Penn State women’s volleyball setter Izzy Starck has been named the Big Ten women’s volleyball Freshman of the Week following her performances against Michigan and Iowa.
This was the second week in a row and the sixth time this season Starck received the honor. Having been named “Freshman of the Week,” in six out of the 10 weeks so far this year, Starck has dominated amongst freshmen in the Big Ten.
The honor came following Starck’s performances this past week against Michigan and Iowa, helping the Nittany Lions get two wins at Rec Hall to remain undefeated in conference play this season.
In Penn State’s 3-0 sweep against Michigan, Starck recorded her tenth double-double of the season with 26 assists and 14 digs. She led the Nittany Lions to .313 hitting and averaged 10.71 assists per set.
Two days later, in the Nittany Lions’ 3-1 win against Iowa, Starck had four blogs, seven digs, and an impressive 49 assists. Starck combined with Maggie Mendelson for a block that ended the first set in favor of Penn State.
Penn State women’s volleyball will travel west this weekend for back-to-back conference road matches against Northwestern and No. 7 Wisconsin.
