Abdul Carter Named Lombardi Award Semifinalist

Penn State football defensive end Abdul Carter has been named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award. The award honors college football linemen for exceptional performance and ability, as well as the embodiment of character and discipline that Vince Lombardi championed.

Carter has been outstanding for the Nittany Lions this season, recording 34 total tackles, six sacks, and a forced fumble for Penn State.

Carter joins the likes of Georgia’s Mykel Williams, Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton, Virginia Tech’s Antwuan Powell-Ryland, Navy’s Colin Ramos, Tennessee’s James Pearce Jr, LSU’s Will Campbell, Army’s Kyle Lewis, South Carolina’s Kyle Kennard, Iowa’s Jay Higgins, and Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr. as a semifinalist.

The 2023 Lombardi Award winner was former UCLA defensive end Laiaitu Latu, now a member of the Indianapolis Colts.

The finalists for the award will be announced on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, while the winner of the 2024 Lombardi Award will be announced on December 11, 2024.
