Sam Herring Commits To Penn State Wrestling

Sam Herring, the No. 20 recruit on MatScouts’ 2026 big board and No. 6 in InterMats 138-pound rankings, committed to Penn State wrestling this Sunday, starting off the Nittany Lions 2026 recruiting class with a bang.

Herring, a Pennsylvania native and Bishop Mccort High School attendee, is 39-12 in his first two seasons of competition. Herring is also a three-time placer at the annual Super 32 tournament, an event that brings together the best and brightest high school wrestlers from around the country.

Penn State’s latest commit is one of a handful of highly targeted wrestlers out of Bishop Mccort, including Nittany Lion targets such as Bo Basset and Jax Forrest.

Herring is expected to wrestle in the middleweight classes in collegiate competition.
