What To Do In Philly Over Thanksgiving Break

The holidays are almost here, folks!

For those venturing to the Philadelphia area over Thanksgiving break, there are a number of shows, sporting events, and festivals to enjoy as the City of Brotherly Love kicks off its holiday festivities.

As always, we’ve taken the time to compile some of the best events Philly has to offer this Thanksgiving week. Here’s what we found.

Events & Festivals

6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade

The annual Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the nation, running from near City Hall all the way down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, culminating with Santa’s arrival at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The parade features a variety of musical guests, marching bands, celebrities, and giant balloon floats. The event will also be televised on 6abc beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Center City Christmas Markets

There are a number of holiday markets right near City Hall in Philly. The Love Park Christmas Market will have a preview weekend from November 22 to 24 before opening for the season on Thanksgiving Day. Right across the street, the Dilworth Plaza holiday market and ice skating rink are already in full swing.

Peddler’s Village

About one hour outside Philadelphia in Bucks County, Peddler’s Village offers a wide variety of shopping and dining opportunities under the twinkle of thousands of twinkling Christmas lights. In addition to the usual activities, there is also the famous holiday gingerbread house competition.
