Former Penn State Executive Pleads Guilty To Felony Charges

Former Penn State interim vice president for IT and chief information officer Keith Brautigam pled guilty to charges of strangulation and simple assault on Monday. Brautigam was arrested for those charges in October 2023.

Brautigam began his role as the interim vice president for information technology and chief information officer in June 2023 and oversaw Penn State IT. He worked with the university beginning in 2014, though Brautigam is no longer employed by the university.

According to an affidavit, Brautigam choked a woman during an argument in 2023. The woman reported that Brautigam placed his hands on her neck so that she couldn’t breathe. The woman also told police she believed she was going to die.

Brautigam was placed on administrative leave in the aftermath of the charges.

Brautigam is set to be sentenced by Judge Julia R. Rater on Tuesday, January 7.
