Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 12 Roundup
The 12th week of NFL action has concluded, leaving just seven more weeks of regular-season play.
Over the weekend, Penn State football traveled to Minneapolis and pulled off a thrilling 26-25 victory over Minnesota at Huntington Bank Stadium. At the same time, Nittany Lion alumni were making their presence felt across the NFL, taking the field for their respective teams and continuing to represent their alma mater professionally.
Let’s take a look at how Penn State alumni fared in week 12 of the NFL season.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Running back Saquon Barkley delivered yet another dominant performance in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. Barkley rushed for a career-high 255 yards on 26 carries, averaging 9.8 yards per attempt and scoring two touchdowns on the ground. He also hauled in four receptions for 47 yards. After his illustrious performance, Barkley sits atop the NFL in total rushing with 1,392 yards, surpassing Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry.
Barkley broke the Eagles’ franchise record for the most rushing yards in a single game with 255 yards on the ground. Barkley has been a game-changer for Philadelphia, setting a career-high in rushing through 11 games.
Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys
Linebacker Micah Parsons filled the stat sheet in the Dallas Cowboys’ 34-26 victory over the Washington Commanders. Parsons posted eight total tackles and sacked Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels twice on Sunday. Since his return from injury in week 10, the Cowboys edge rusher has four sacks and 11 total tackles.
Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins
Linebacker Chop Robinson delivered in the Miami Dolphins’ 34-15 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. The rookie linebacker recorded four total tackles and was credited with 1.5 sacks. Robinson has been breaking out for the Dolphins’ posting 3+ sacks in his past four games.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Tight end Pat Freiermuth had a solid outing in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 24-19 loss to the Cleveland Brown on Thursday Night Football. Freiermuth hauled in four receptions for 59 yards against the Browns in the snow. The former Penn State tight end has 354 receiving yards on 35 receptions and three touchdowns for the Steelers this season.
Ji’Ayir Brown, San Francisco 49ers
Safety Ji’Ayir Brown has been solid in the back end of the San Francisco 49ers’ defense this season. Brown posted four total tackles and defended one pass in San Francisco’s 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Odafe Oweh, Baltimore Ravens
Linebacker Odafe Oweh performed well in the Baltimore Ravens’ 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Oweh recorded one tackle and one sack on Monday Night Football. He has seven sacks on the season.

Wide receiver Jahan Dotson hauled in one reception for four yards in the Eagles’ victory over the Rams on Sunday Night Football.
- Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos totaled four tackles in the 49ers’ loss to the Packers.
- Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. totaled six tackles in the Steelers’ loss to the Browns on Thursday Night Football.
- Tight end Theo Johnson caught three passes for 39 yards in the New York Giants’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
