Izzy Starck & Caroline Jurevicius Earn Weekly Big Ten Honors

Penn State women’s volleyball players Izzy Starck and Caroline Jurevicius earned weekly Big Ten honors, the conference announced on Monday.

Starck, a freshman from Florida, won the conference’s Setter of the Week honor after double-doubles in wins over Rutgers and No. 2 ranked Nebraska. In the high-stakes game against the Cornhuskers, Starck had 46 assists, 11 digs, 6 blocks, and 3 kills as the Nittany Lions clinched a share of the Big Ten title. Starck became the first Penn Stater to win five Big Ten Setter of the Week awards since Micha Hancock in 2014.

Jurevicius, another freshman, was named the conference’s Freshman of the Week after nabbing a career-high 18 kills in the victory over Nebraska. Jurevicius also had a .414 hitting percentage in the win, averaging 3.29 kills per set during the entire week.

With the wins against Nebraska and Rutgers, the Nittany Lions finished their season with a record of 29-2 and a 17-1 record in Big Ten conference play. Penn State earned a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, to play Delaware State.
