Original Post:

Penn State football tight end Jerry Cross is entering the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. The redshirt sophomore has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native has only appeared in seven games over his three seasons at Penn State. He played in two this season and five last season and has not registered any statistics. He didn’t see action during his true freshman season.

The 6’5″, 267-pound tight end was the first Nittany Lion with reported intentions to hit the portal. This report came as Penn State is preparing to face Oregon in the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday.

If he departs, Cross, a former four-star in the recruiting class of 2022, will leave behind a tight end room loaded with depth. Tyler Warren is a Mackey Award contender, and five-star freshman Luke Reynolds is waiting in the wings. Andrew Rappleyea and Khalil Dinkins are also in position to see increased reps after Warren’s departure.
