When Do Famous Penn Staters (Probably) Get Into The Christmas Spirit?

The most wonderful time of the year is here!

With December officially upon us, the holiday season is in full swing. The twinkling lights, festive music, and cozy vibes have us all feeling the Christmas spirit.

It got us at Onward State thinking — when do famous Penn Staters start their Christmas celebrations? Are they early decorators who put up their trees in November or do they wait until finals are over to fully dive into the festivities? We’ve compiled a list of when we think notable Penn Staters start getting into the holiday spirit.

James Franklin: December 23

With his full attention locked in on football, Franklin waits until the regular season is wrapped up to focus on the holidays. Between balancing bowl prep and family time, he holds off until his schedule clears up a bit. Hopefully, he’ll still have a few games left after Christmas.

Drew Allar: Right After Halloween

Drew Allar’s holiday spirit kicks in early! As soon as Halloween is over, he wastes no time swapping out pumpkins for Christmas trees. We already know Allar had his Christmas tree set up early this year.

The Nittany Lion: Always

The Nittany Lion is always in the holiday spirit! No matter the season, you can count on the Nittany Lion to jam to festive music and spread holiday cheer.

Mike Rhoades: Late November

With basketball season in full swing, Penn State head men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades starts to embrace the Christmas groove right around Thanksgiving. He’s a man who understands the turkey comes before the tree.

Tyler Warren: December 1

Tyler Warren picks the classic, uncontroversial date to dive into the holiday spirit, making the start of December his go-to kickoff for the season.

Willard Preacher: Christmas Day

True to his personality, the Willard Preacher keeps it simple and focuses solely on the meaning of the day. He channels his inner Grinch until December 25.
