Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 14 Roundup

Yet another week of NFL action has passed us by during this busy weekend.

Although they hung in there until the very end, the Nittany Lions fell short against Oregon in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday night. Still, many Penn State alumni had successful outings for their respective teams.

Let’s take a look at how those Nittany Lions in the NFL performed in week 14.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Running back Saquon Barkley had yet another strong performance in the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The star running back racked up 124 yards on the ground with his 20 carries but couldn’t bring in his only target of the day. Additionally, Barkley became the Eagles’ single-season rushing yards leader, sitting at 1,623 rushing yards on the year with four games to go.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Tight end Pat Freiermuth reeled in three catches for 48 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown reception from Russell Wilson, during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 27-14 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Wide receiver Parker Washington caught both of his targets and tallied 15 yards in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 10-6 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Arnold Ebiketie, Atlanta Falcons

Edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie recorded one sack and one solo tackle in the Atlanta Falcons’ 42-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The young pass rusher has three sacks in his last two outings.

Joey Porter Jr., Pittsburgh Steelers

Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. racked up five solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the Steelers’ 27-14 winning effort over the Browns.

Yetur Gross-Matos, San Francisco 49ers

Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos displayed a career-best performance, as he racked up three sacks and four solo tackles during the San Francisco 49ers’ 38-13 blowout win against the Chicago Bears. The edge rusher is just a half sack short of tying his career-high number with four games to go.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Tight end Mike Gesicki reeled in all three of his targets for 24 yards against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. His longest catch was 13 yards and a first down in the Cincinnati Bengals’ 27-20 win.

Other Notables:

  • Safety Ji’Ayir Brown recorded just one solo tackle in the San Francisco 49ers’ 38-13 win against the Chicago Bears.
  • Despite a strong showing against the New York Giants last week, defensive end Micah Parsons didn’t register any stats in the Cowboys’ loss to the Bengals.
  • Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson was targeted twice and hauled in one pass for a 5-yard grab against the Panthers.
  • Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones racked up three assisted tackles and one solo tackle in the Buffalo Bills’ 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
  • Edge rusher Chop Robinson totaled one solo tackle and a pass deflection in the Miami Dolphins’ 32-26 win over the New York Jets.
