Penn State Arboretum Winter Celebration To Return December 13

Penn State’s Arboretum is set to celebrate the holidays with a light show and bring back a seasonal celebration.

The Arboretum’s Winter Celebration will return from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 13, at the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens. Folks can enjoy free musical performances, crafts, hot beverages, and a nighttime bird walk.

There will also be ornament-making activities for children and a wreath-making workshop, which are registration-only and require enrollment. Folks can register at the Winter Celebration webpage

“We’re excited to bring this back,” Rachel Duke, the Arboretum’s public programs manager, said about the Winter Celebration in a release. “We hope everyone will bundle up and come out to celebrate the season.”

Additionally, visitors at the winter celebration can experience the holiday lights at the Arboretum. The Arboretum’s gardens will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Friday, December 6, to Sunday, January 19. Admission is free and no ticket is required.

An 18′ Fraser fir with more than 1,000 LED lights will be on display at the Soaring Waters Fountain, while two 12′ trees will sit in the Childhood’s Gate Children’s Garden and at the entrance to the Arboretum’s Bamboo Allee.
