Nick Dawkins Wins Wuerfful Trophy

Penn State football’s Nick Dawkins was the recipient of the 2024 Allstate Wuerfful Trophy and was named Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Captain, the Wuerfful Foundation announced Thursday.

The award recognizes one of 11 NCAA FBS players selected to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team who best combines exemplary community service, leadership, and performance on and off the field. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Captain and recipient of the Wuerfful Trophy is decided by a national committee that includes a fan voting component.

Dawkins is the 20th recipient of the Wuerfful Trophy. He won the 2023 Penn State Public Service award for his work with his foundation, the Dawkins Family Foundation, founded in 2022 to champion academic and athletic excellence for young students.

The Dawkins Foundation awards three scholarships to high school seniors, including a scholarship that honors the Dawkins’ late father, Darryl Dawkins. The foundation sponsors charitable events and offers educational workshops in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, where Dawkins attended Parkland High School.

Dawkins, a redshirt senior, has served as Penn State’s starting center in 2024 and has appeared in all 13 of the Nittany Lions games.

Dawkins and the Nittany Lions retake the field at noon on Saturday, December 21, to take on SMU at Beaver Stadium in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
