Fire Damages Apartment House In State College

A Monday afternoon fire caused damage to an apartment house in the west end of State College.

Alpha Fire Company responded at about 3:15 p.m. to 733 W. College Ave., where Chief Tony Barrena said the fire occurred on the third floor. The sprinkler system was shut off at the time because of a leak, Barrena said.

The fire was out within about 10 minutes. Residents who were home at the time exited safely and no injuries were reported.

Centre Region and state police fire marshals were investigating the cause, Barrena said.

West College Avenue was closed between Sparks and Patterson Streets until about 4:25 p.m.
