Penn State Hoops Receives Three Points In AP Poll

Penn State men’s basketball is hanging onto national recognition.

The Nittany Lions received three points in the latest AP Poll, which was released early Monday afternoon. The three points are the least of any team receiving votes.

After picking up non-conference wins over Coppin State and Drexel this past week, Penn State saw a drop after having eight points in last week’s rankings.

Despite the two victories, Penn State’s top two opponents, Purdue and Clemson, each dropped in the poll. The Boilermakers, who Penn State beat by 11, went from No. 16 to No. 21, and Clemson fell out of the rankings and received 18 points.

The Big Ten is represented by five teams in the top 25, as well as seven teams receiving votes. The highest ranked team in the conference is No. 9 Oregon, which Penn State will host on January 12.

Prior to their matchup with the Ducks, the Nittany Lions will close out non-conference play against Penn at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, at the Bryce Jordan Center. The game will be streamed on Peacock.
