Live Music Space To Open In Former Downtown State College Bar
A new space for live music is opening in the former location of a downtown State College bar.
Manny’s Live Performance Space will hold a soft opening on New Year’s Eve at 101 Hiester Street, which was previously the longtime home of The Saloon.
The new venue is the work of DJ, artist, and event organizer Corey Elbin’s Gorinto Productions, known for producing Rhoneymeade Fest, monthly dance parties at 3 Dots, an experimental music series at Zeno’s, and other musical and performance events.
“This is a deeply meaningful new chapter in my ongoing dedication to supporting inclusive arts and live music experiences,” Elbin wrote on Instagram.
The New Year’s Eve soft opening for Manny’s, which is named in honor of Elbin’s pet cat of more than 20 years, will start at 8 p.m. and will include performances by Pernett, Doo Crowder, and Luisa Mei, along with DJs throughout the night.
Gorinto’s Secret Planet series — which features world sounds and international touring acts — will kick off 2025 with Yeison Landero, “The Heir to Cumbia” at 7 p.m. on January 15, with support from Pepe and the Soft Mojitos.
Both the New Year’s Eve and Secret Planet shows are listed as BYOB.

“Gorinto plans to continue to collaborate with the amazing community partners in the region, while now also hosting events at the Manny’s live room,” Elbin wrote.
