Chutti The Rhino Picks Boise State In Fiesta Bowl

At least the animal kingdom isn’t counting you out, Boise State.

Chutti, a rhinoceros at the Phoenix Zoo, picked Boise State to defeat Penn State in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl. Chutti makes his annual selection for the bowl game by destroying a box with his loser’s logo on it. While the rhino attacked both logos, Boise State’s was “less destroyed,” according to a handler, giving the Mustangs the victory.

Chutti is 0-3 all-time in making Fiesta Bowl picks. Last year, the rhino picked Liberty to take down Oregon, and the Flames were blown out 45-6. A year prior, Chutti picked Michigan to win the Fiesta Bowl, and the Wolverines fell to TCU. In 2021, the rhino picked Notre Dame over Oklahoma State, and the Cowboys prevailed over the Fighting Irish.

However, the methods to determine Chutti’s decision have been called into question before. In the past, his handlers haven’t been specific about whether or not destroying the box actually means that the rhino is picking a certain team to lose.

Regardless of Chutti’s pick, Las Vegas is picking Penn State to win with an 11-point spread. So, maybe don’t throw all your money behind the rhino.
