Gameday Coverage: No. 4 Penn State vs. No. 9 Boise State

Happy Fiesta Bowl gameday, folks.

No. 4 Penn State football will face No. 9 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl for a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals and the Orange Bowl. The Nittany Lion defense is set to square off with running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Ashton Jeanty, while Drew Allar and Co. face off with the Broncos’ blitz-heavy defense.

Here’s everything you need to know about the New Year’s Eve matchup.

The Fiesta Bowl will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Bob Wischusen will serve as the play-by-play announcer while Louis Riddick will be the color analyst. Kris Budden and Tom Luginbill will be the sideline reporters.

Weather

According to the Fiesta Bowl website, the roof of State Farm Stadium will be closed during the game. Outside the stadium, it will be sunny with a high of 71°, according to Accuweather.

Injuries

Wide receiver Tyseer Denmark was out against SMU, while Ethan Grunkemeyer will continue as the Nittany Lions’ No. 2 quarterback after Beau Pribula entered the transfer portal before the first-round playoff game. However, Denmark was seen during the Nittany Lions’ open practice session, paving the way for a possible appearance.

Betting Lines

The Nittany Lions opened as 11-point favorites over the Broncos, according to DraftKings. The over/under is set at 52 points, with a moneyline of -425 in favor of Penn State.

This is the first meeting between Boise State and Penn State.
