Penn State Women’s Hockey Moves To No. 9 In USCHO Poll

Penn State women’s hockey cracked the top ten in the USCHO poll for the first time this season to become No. 9, the organization announced Monday.

The Nittany Lions swept RIT over the past weekend to open the new year at Pegula Ice Arena. The team shut out the Tigers to open the series Friday night and won a nail-biter Saturday. Goaltender Katie DeSa recorded her fourth shutout of the season to help the team remain undefeated in conference play. Brianna Brooks scored three goals in the series, while Tessa Janecke tied the all-time points record at Penn State.

Janecke, Maddy Christian, and Katelyn Roberts celebrated their 100th career game in the second game against the Tigers. Roberts also scored first in the game to get the Nittany Lions ahead early.

Penn State will travel to Syracuse to take on the Big Orange at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 17.
