Gavin McKenna’s Mom Enters Diversion Program In Furnishing Alcohol Case

Penn State men’s hockey star Gavin McKenna’s mother, Krystal McKenna, entered a pretrial diversionary program Wednesday that could lead to the drop of the misdemeanor charges, per Centre Daily Times.
Krystal was put into an accelerated rehabilitative disposition program for six months and was ordered to complete one day of community service. Centre County President Judge Jonathan Grine allowed her admission to the program, which, if successfully completed, would result in the dismissal of the charges and the expungement of her record.
If she does not successfully complete the program, she would face prosecution.
After the January 31 outdoor men’s hockey game, Krystal was caught on Doggie’s surveillance footage providing alcohol to minors, including Gavin, throughout the night. The footage was obtained during the search for answers after Gavin was charged criminally for a felony and multiple misdemeanors.
Gavin’s felony has since been dropped, and he will just be charged with the misdemeanors, including simple assault. He was drafted No. 1 overall to the Toronto Maple Leafs, leading to the signing of an entry-level NHL contract.
Gavin’s next court date will be July 13.
