Penn State Football Guard JB Nelson Returning For 2025 Season

Penn State football guard JB Nelson will return for the 2025 season, he announced Wednesday. Nelson has played in 31 games in three seasons with the Nittany Lions.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native spent his first two collegiate seasons at Lackawanna Community College where he appeared in 12 games for the Falcons. Nelson transferred to Penn State as a redshirt sophomore and was the No. 1 player from Pennsylvania, the No. 1 offensive tackle, and the No. 2 player in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite JUCO rankings.

Nelson appeared in four games in his first season with the Nittany Lions and appeared in 11 games, making eight starts in 2023 where he earned All-Big Ten honorable mention laurels from the coaches and media. Nelson appeared in all 16 games this season but didn’t record any starts.

Nelson and center Nick Dawkins are the only two draft-eligible offensive linemen who announced their intentions to return for next season. Nelson is also the fifth player from the offense to return, joining Dawkins, Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, and Kaytron Allen.
