Drew Allar To Return To Penn State Football In 2025
Update, 11:27 a.m.
Drew Allar confirmed there’s more work to do with his Penn State football teammates “this year and beyond” after Pete Thamel’s report of Allar’s return for his senior year broke on Monday morning.
“This season has been the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life playing football and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team,” Allar wrote on Twitter. “…But right now we are solely focused on the opportunity we have as a team in front of us.”
Original Story:
Penn State football starting quarterback Drew Allar will return to the Nittany Lions for the 2025 season, per Pete Thamel of ESPN. Allar’s decision came after backup quarterback Beau Pribula announced he would enter the transfer portal on Sunday night.
Allar has served as Penn State’s starter for two years. Across 36 appearances and 26 starts, he’s notched 5,869 yards for 50 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In 2024, he’s recorded 2,894 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Allar became the first Nittany Lion to announce he will remain with the team in 2025. Pribula joined defensive lineman T.A. Cunningham, tight end Jerry Cross, and wide receiver Feyisayo Oluleye as those hitting the portal, and safety KJ Winston declared for the NFL Draft.
Allar and the Nittany Lions will take the field for their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance in the first round against SMU on Saturday, December 21. Kickoff is slated for noon and the game will air on TNT and stream on Max.
