Penn State No. 3 In Learfield Directors’ Cup After Fall Season

No matter what, Penn State finishes third.

Penn State Athletics placed third in the Learfield Directors’ Cup following the fall sports season. The Directors’ Cup compares how Division I athletic programs fared across all sports.

This fall season, Penn State finished with 335 points, behind Stanford and North Carolina. Nineteen Division I sports can be counted in each school’s final total, four of which must be baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball.

The highest-scoring team for the Nittany Lions this fall season was women’s volleyball, which earned 100 points after winning the national championship. Football received 75 points after making it to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, while women’s cross country added 73.5, women’s soccer added 73, and men’s cross country added 64.5.

With winter sports still to be determined, the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings will be updated in early April.
