Woman Faces 13 Charges In Death Of Former Penn State Football Player AJ Lytton

A Maryland woman was arrested Thursday and faces 13 charges, including DUI and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter, in the death of former Penn State football player AJ Lytton, the Prince George’s County (Maryland) state attorney said.

Cori Clingman, 23, faces a maximum of 30 years in prison after causing a three-car crash in July that killed Lytton and his high school teammates Isaiah Hazel and Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson.

Clingman was arrested Thursday and will have a bond hearing on Friday, prosecutor Aisha Braveboy told ESPN. Braveboy confirmed that Clingman’s blood alcohol level was “at least” above the 0.08 legal limit in Maryland.

The crash occurred at 3:14 a.m. on July 6, 2024, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, when an Infinity Q50, driven by Clingman, attempted to change lanes at high speeds and struck a Dodge Charger, driven by Hazel, and a Chevrolet Impala.

According to police, the Charger left the road and struck multiple tree stumps as Jackson and Hazel were pronounced dead at the scene. Lytton’s death was confirmed at the  University of Maryland Captial Region Medical Center. Lytton, Hazel, and Jackson were the only people killed, everyone else involved in the accident was uninjured.

Lytton spent just the 2021 season with the Nittany Lions where he appeared in 11 games. After that season, he entered the transfer portal and did not commit to another program. Lytton also spent the 2018 season at Florida State where he had 28 tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception.
