Brainstorming Starbucks Cup Messages For Penn State Baristas

Starbucks recently announced a new initiative requiring baristas to write messages or doodles on every single disposable cup to build connections with customers. Baristas nationwide are now supposed to write personalized messages on each cup, including affirmations, well wishes, or anything positive.

However, according to CNN, many baristas across the nation say that the revived policy has slowed down the pace and feels like a “forced” way to connect with customers. On the other hand, some baristas are participating in a TikTok trend, poking fun at the rule by writing viral quotes or song lyrics onto their cups.

Given that there are two Starbucks on campus and two in downtown State College, we decided to help out our local baristas by coming up with some Penn State-esque and college-centric messages for them to write.

  • WE ARE…so happy you chose us over Dunkin’
  • No more Sunday scaries!
  • I’d be lion if I said your smile didn’t brighten my day
  • The entire Alma Mater
  • You put the ‘happy’ in Happy Valley
  • You’re one in a (Megan) million
  • All the lyrics to “Trace McSorley” by Matty Fresh
  • The Willard Preacher says repent…but first, coffee
  • Wake up and roar
  • Bring the White Out…energy today!
  • You’re as sweet as Alumni Swirl
  • This espresso is stronger than the campus WiFi
  • Think fast, run fast
