State College Police Announce Parking Information For THON Weekend

With THON just three days away, the State College Borough Parking Department has lifted the “no parking 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.” and the one- and two-hour parking restrictions. The lift will begin at noon on Friday, February 21, and will go back into place at 2 a.m. on Monday, February 24.

The following Pennsylvania Vehicle Code violations will be strictly enforced: no parking on the sidewalk, no parking within an intersection, no parking on a crosswalk, no parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, no parking 30 feet of a stop sign, no parking over 12 inches from the curb, no parking against traffic, no parking in front of a driveway, and no parking anytime.

Folks who break these violations may receive a ticket or have their car towed. Parking meters on-street and parking lots are also enforced from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Other parking adjustments on campus will be made for the event, including the closing of roads and reserved parking lots. Orange L East and South, Yellow V, and Jordan East lots will be reserved from Friday to Sunday for THON families.

On Friday, Curtin Road from University Drive to Porter Road will be closed from 2 to 7 p.m. as well as University Drive from Hastings Road to Curtain Road from 4:15 to 4:30 p.m. These closures are for the arrival of THON dancers.

For those attending THON, general visiting parking will be available at the Stadium West, Jordan East, and Porter lots from Friday to Sunday. Anyone attending a sporting event is encouraged by the university to purchase their single-game parking pass through ParkMobile for $5.50 the night before the event. Fans attending a game without a prepaid pass and do not have a valid Penn State permit will have to pay $10 for parking on game day through HONK zone PSUCR.

Those with further questions can contact the State College Parking Department at (814) 278-4769 or head to the Penn State Transportation Services website.
